Kindly plan to perform this process during non operational hours. Also, we strongly recommend to build a new server, implement it there, ensure it works fine and then you can disconnect the old server. This way you can do this migration without affecting your Production.
Step 1: From the current server, Take a backup of the existing data in the application. In case of 24/7 environment, Backup can be taken without stopping the server too. However otherwise, during non operational hours, stop the application and then take a backup.
From the command prompt, go to \ManageEngine\ServiceDeskPlus-MSP\bin directory and execute the backUpData.bat command to start the data backup.
This backup will be stored under the Backup folder in \ManageEngine\ServiceDeskPlus-MSP\ directory.
Step 2: Now copy this Full backup to the new server.
Step 3: On the new server, Install a fresh version of ServiceDeskPlus-MSP of the same build. A fresh install will have PGSQL as a default database.
Ensure you download only the build that you were already using. You can download the appropriate builds from the below link.
Step 4 : Once after installing the build, start and stop the application service once for the new tables to get created in the database.
Step 5: Now Restore the Backup taken in the second step. To restore run the command prompt as an administrator. Now navigate to \ManageEngine\ServiceDeskPlus-MSP\bin and execute RestoreData.bat , browse and select the latest backup taken.
Once the restore is complete you will get a pop up saying Restoration completed successfully.
Step 6: Start the application, login and check your data.
License file can be obtained from the old server under \ManageEngine\ServiceDeskPlus-MSP\lib and the file name would be AdventNetLicense.xml. License can be applied through Help->License at the right top corner of the application.
